ITEM (3) BELOW REQUIRES THAT YOU PROVIDE MY OFFICE WITH CAPACITY CALCULATIONS AND/OR TEST RESULTS TO SUPPORT THE PROPOSED CAPACITY VALUES.(2) 33CFR181.5-9 THE ELECTRIC LAUNCH (WHICH WAS EVALUATED AS AN OUTBOARD POWERED BOAT) IS SUBJECT TO THE SAFE LOADING, SAFE POWERING DISPLAY OF CAPACITY INFORMATION AND FLOTATION REGULATIONS OF PART 183 AND DID NOT HAVE A CERTIFICATION LABEL AFFIXED.(3) 33CFR183.37 & .43 MANUFACTURER NEEDS TO PROVIDE CALCULATIONS OR TEST DATA TO SHOW COMPLIANCE WITH COAST GUARD SAFE LOADING CAPACITES. THE EVALUATION OF THIS MODEL BOAT AS A 2 HP OUTBOARD RATHER THAN AS AN INBOARD WILL RESULT IN A LARGER MAXIMUM WEIGHT CAPACITY/MAXIMUM PERSONS CAPACITY ALLOWANCE. HOWEVER, THE ELECTRIC LAUNCH HAS A SIGNIFICANTLY LARGER BATTERY WEIGHT THAN THE NORMAL 2 HP OUTBOARD POWERED BOAT. IN YOUR CALCULATION TO DETERMINE MAXIMUM PERSONS WEIGH CAPACITY, YOU ARE TO USE THE ACTUAL WEIGHT OF THE COMBINED ELECTRIC MOTOR AND BATTERIES IN LIEU OF THE 25 LB FIGURE GIVEN IN THE REFERENCED TABLE 4.(4) 33CFR183.301-302 THE PERSONS CAPACITY TO BE SUPPORTED HAD NOT BEEN ESTABLISHED, SO IT COULD NOT BE DETERMINED IF THE QUANTITY AND LOCATION OF THE INSTALLED FLOTATION WAS PROPER FOR THE BOAT TO PASS THE STABILITY AND FLOTATION TESTS.
